LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It was a championship weekend for FaR Out Volleyball Club, as the West Michigan program delivered an impressive showing at the prestigious Adidas Bluegrass Tournament, highlighted by a title in the highly competitive 15 Open division and two additional runner-up finishes.
The Bluegrass tournament, held March 6–8 in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of the longest running and most competitive club volleyball events in the country, drawing teams from across the United States and attracting hundreds of college coaches each year.
15 Black Captures Open Division Championship
Leading the way for FaR Out was 15 Black, which battled through the elite 15 Open division to claim the tournament championship. The Open division represents the highest level of competition at the event, reserved for top teams competing for national-level recognition.
Throughout the weekend, 15 Black showed the depth and composure that have defined the team all season. The squad advanced through pool play and bracket competition before finishing the job in the championship match to bring home the Bluegrass title.
The team is coached by Michele Lurye, who leads a roster featuring athletes from programs across West Michigan and beyond, including players from schools such as Lowell, Hudsonville, Rockford, and Portage Central.
Strong Weekend Across the Club
FaR Out’s success was not limited to just one team. The club placed multiple teams on championship courts during the tournament.
14 Black delivered an impressive run of its own, finishing second place in its division after advancing to the championship match.
16 Onyx also reached the final of its bracket, securing another runner-up finish and adding to the club’s strong overall performance in Louisville.
A Statement Weekend
With one championship and two second-place finishes, the Bluegrass tournament became a statement weekend for the FaR Out program. The results demonstrated the club’s depth across multiple age groups and its ability to compete at one of the country’s premier recruiting events.
For FaR Out athletes and coaches, the performance in Louisville serves as momentum heading into the remainder of the club season, where the program will continue competing in major national tournaments and preparing for championship events later in the year.
