Nothing brings a family together like the holidays. Nothing is more sure to tear apart those recently solidified bonds of merriment and celebration like a Michigan vs Michigan State battle coming just in time to ring in the new year.

In just over a week, the Michigan Wolverines will travel an hour west to face their in-state rival, Michigan State, at the Breslin Center. Both teams stand at 9-3 currently and are ranked firmly in the top 25 with Michigan at #11 and MSU at #14, respectively.

This has all the trappings of an absolute battle on the hardwood. Both teams have something to prove and the rivalry nature of the contest is sure to elevate the level of play and raucous environment known to fans of these two teams as they each make a push heading towards March Madness.

MSU will enter the game after a couple of easy contests against in-state MAC foes, Eastern & Western Michigan, and a more unpredictable game against Big 10 opponent, Illinois.

Michigan will meet MSU after a couple of tune-up games against Presbyterian College and UMASS-Lowell following a tough loss in overtime earlier in the month against #10 Oregon.

The matchup is unlikely to settle family squabbles, but is certain to produce the spectacle of college rivalry at its absolute best. Tickets for the matchup are sold out, but available through various third party sellers at significant markups.
